What is Assassin’s Creed?
Assassin’s Creed 3 is the 5th game, and 3rd numbered entry in the stealth/action-adventure Series, Assassin’s Creed. The series mainly takes place around the protagonist known as Desmond Miles, who lives a normal life as a bartender, until one day he is kidnapped by a corporation known as Abstergo, who then tells Desmond that using a machine known as an Animus, he may go back in time and relive the experiences of his ancestors. He does so, and goes back as the disgraced assassin, Altair. Altair was disgraced for not following the Assassin’s creed. The main game is then hunting down nine targets and assassinating them.
But what about Assassin’s Creed 3?
Two Eras – Two Conflicts
Assassin’s Creed 3 revolves around two periods of time. The main portion of the game is set during the Revolutionary War, from 1753-1783, with the protagonist being a half English/Native American, Connor Kenway. The other portion of the game takes place in the present day with the protagonist, Desmond Miles. As Connor Kenway, you will fight alongside the revolutionary war heroes. Your targets throughout the game during the revolutionary war will be high-ranking red coats. There are 12 sequences in the game, total. You can expect for when you are in the 1700s, that the sequence will end with you killing a British captain or other high ranking officer.
The other part of the game is with Desmond Miles. Assassin’s Creed III is the final chapter in his saga, much like how Revelations was Ezio’s finale. As Desmond, it will take place in the present day, and you will have to stop the 2012 apocalypse from happening. You will visit various locales in order for clues on how to prevent the apocalypse, and the annihilation of mankind.
Now with explosives!
A new addition to Assassin’s Creed 3, is naval combat. You can board a ship and have battles between English ships. In addition, naval warfare will also have a dynamic weather system. This means that the seas may shift from calm and peaceful, to angry and raging, which can and will affect your aim, and how you plan to attack your enemies. There are two ways of victory: Sinking their ship by annihilating it, or you can board their ship yourself, and finish them off in traditional AC style. And with the ship, there is not just one method of attack either. You can attack with up to three types of shot: grapeshot for taking out the enemy crew, the chain shot for destroying the mast for immobilization, and round shot for the destruction of the boat itself. Sometimes you may not even attack just boats either – Ubisoft has multiple types of naval missions in the works, such as navigating minefields, boarding enemy boats and assassinating Templars, and laying siege to enemy forts.
The Tyranny of George Washington
Everybody knows George Washington as the heroic leader of the revolutionary war, and the nation’s first president.
However, the DLC The Tyranny of King George tells an alternate tale. Consumed by the want for more power, George declares himself king of the newly established America. This DLC is making many people extremely excited for the game, as this alternate history sounds very fascinating. Your task in the DLC will be to dethrone the tyrant, and restore the new colonies back to the freedom they fought so hard to earn.
With this being Ubisoft’s most pre-ordered game in the company’s history, it’s very likely that it will turn out to be their best so far with all the content and information posted so far.
